Adeline Duvivier, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a cherished member of our family left this world on January 17, 2025, surrounded by love and comfort. Born on January 24, 1952, Adeline Charlemagne was the youngest of 3 children to Odon Charlemagne of Leogane, Haiti and Viergilie Joseph of Jacmel, Haiti who preceded her in death as well as her older sister Examineuse Charlemagne and older brother Vitalis Charlemagne.
Adeline who was affectionately known by her family as "Doune" was the heart and soul of our home and family. From an early age, she exhibited an unwavering compassion and strength, traits that would later make her the cornerstone of our family, the glue that kept us all together, through family gatherings and great meals. Her husband and children were the center of her world, and she devoted herself to being an exemplary wife and mother. Her children were her most treasured accomplishment. Every chance Adeline "Doune" got to share stories about her children she did with joy in her heart and a bright, beautiful smile.
Adeline was a woman of God who devoted her life to helping others. Her selflessness touched everyone she met, and she had a way of making each person feel seen, valued, and loved. Adeline worked tirelessly at Hilton hotel until she retired in 2018. Adeline made lifelong friends who adored her genuine and sweet spirit. If you encountered her, she gave you a nickname which she would affectionately call you each time she saw you.
Adeline "Doune" shared 40 beautiful years of marriage with her soulmate, Raymond Duvivier who passed away in 2018. Together they built a life full of love and memories that will forever live on in their children. Adeline was a devoted mother who poured her heart into raising Seven children: Guerda, Daniella Mireille, Louise, Martine (deceased), Richard, Nicole and her stepson Frantz. She is also survived by her sons-in-law Eric, Harry, Tyshan and Ryan. She created a home filled with love, laughter, and guidance, teaching them to be strong, independent, respectful, and compassionate adults. Above all, Adeline showed them what it means to care for others, to love unconditionally, and to cherish family.
Adeline was blessed with twenty-two wonderful grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. They lovingly called her "ShooShoo grandma" "Grammy girl " or simply "Gran". Her grandchildren included Kimberly, Melissa, Nia, Tajhee, Nicholas, Brian, Sage, Brielle, YJ, Nyla, Kyre, Rachel, Erin, Samantha, Jada, Ryan, Aiden, Madison, Bella, Ryley, Tori, and Nova. Adeline was also a great-grandmother to Melanie, Abree, Xander, Scarlett, Kylee and Kenzlee.
Adeline "Doune" will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, half brothers, sisters, friends and all whose lives she touched. She was a cherished member of her community. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity, hearty laugh, kind and gentle soul. Adeline's radiant spirit is carried on by her children, grand-children and great grand-children, and sons-in-law.
