Marie Therese Berlus was born on September 30, 1942, in Aux Cayes, Haiti to the parents of Julien Belmond and Fleurette Almeda. Marie completed her studies in a Catholic School in Beraud, Aux Cayes in 1960. She continued her education and was professionally trained as a Garment Maker. She went on to tailor uniform clothing for students of all ages in Beraud and Chantal area. In February of 1973, Marie married Pierre Janel Berlus and they welcomed their 4 beautiful children Jean Serge, Jean Rubens, Janel Junior and Rose Jasmine, who were the most important part of her life. Marie was a devoted mother, who enjoyed being a housemaker for many of her years. Marie was exceptionally kind and generous, unconditionally loving, and always made time for everyone, making sure to provide support for her family. Marie had the privilege to immigrate from Haiti through her sister-in-law Soeurette Berlus in April of 1999 to the United States, where she created a new life of her own and settled in with her daughter and grandkids. While residing in the US, Marie dedicated her life to caring for her grandchildren. She cared deeply for everyone. Marie enjoyed attending church services regularly, both in person and virtually, along with reading her bible every single day. She loved to cook and feed her grandchildren, while also spending a lot of quality time with them. In April, 2021, Marie fell ill and was hospitalized, afterwards rehabilitating for a few years in the Care One Center. Recovery was not an easy journey for Marie during this time. She persevered and kept pushing through, never giving up. Her dreams were to be able to walk again and eventually go back to her home to be with her family again. After multiple health challenges requiring intense care and hospitalizations, Marie made her decision to decline any further medical interventions. For her emotional wellbeing, she felt that it was important to preserve her quality of life. She was then transferred to the Center For Hope Hospice Center in Elizabeth, where she resided for a little over a month. Marie Therese Berlus passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023, and was ushered into heaven. Marie was married to Pierre Janel Berlus and is survived by her beloved daughter Rose Jasmine Berlus and her loving son Jean Serge Berlus. She was predeceased by her sons Jean Rubens Berlus and Janel Junior Berlus. Marie always cared for her step-children, as if they were her very own: Murielle, Rose Japhnee, Bella Fabiola, wesberge, Jude Marie, Moise, Late-Wadson,Gary. Marie will also be forever remembered by her adoring grandchildren, Jiaelle Estelus, Juvens Reymon Estelus, Jhayra Querie Berlus, Thierry Berlus, and Olivier Berlus.
