Marie Therese Meronvil was born on August 9, 1945, to Rosalie Clairvoyant and Nauzius Ceus in Desdunes, Haiti.
Therese, as she was affectionally called by her husband, was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, godmother, neighbor, and friend. She was a true woman of God who loved unconditionally and was loved deeply in return. She was a cherished figure in the lives of all who knew her.
While in Haiti, she would frequent the vibrant outdoor markets (marché), selling rice and various other produce. When she moved to the United States she worked as an industrial worker and machine operator in several factories until retiring at Douglass Stephens Plastics in Patterson, NJ.
On July 22, 1967, she married her best friend since childhood, Paul Meronvil, son of Mathieu and Anne-Paul Meronvil. They were married for over 57 years. From that beautiful union, she gave birth to five children: Jeanpaul and Leopaul who were born in Haiti. She later gave birth to Daniel, Romise and Damaqu who were born after she moved to the United States.
Therese was a founding member of First Shiloh Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess for over 30 years. Serving her church and being a prayer warrior for her family and friends was her greatest pride and joy.
Therese peacefully went to rest with the Lord on April 12, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers: Lageroy Ceus and Jean Claude Phanord; and her son, Daniel Meronvil.
She is survived by her husband Paul Meronvil; her aunt Muracia Clairvoyant; her brothers: William Phanord, Athanio Phanord, Marcel Ceus, and Joseph Ceus; her children: Jeanpaul Meronvil (Evelyne), Leopaul Meronvil, Romise Austin (Mark), and Damaqu Kareem (Tunde); her grandchildren: Paulline Meronvil, Washeeda-Marie Meronvil, Godson Meronvil, Goodmon Meronvil, Mark Austin, Daniel Austin, Makai-Hakeem Omotola Kareem, and Niyah-Marie Oluwatoyin Kareem.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Gerad Meronvil; her sisters-in-law: Sylfise Meronvil-Pierville, and Leonne Jn-Baptiste; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
She will truly be missed, but her love will live on through her family, friends and all whose lives she touched.
