Mathilde Datilus, 87, peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 5 PM, in her Philadelphia home, to be reunited with her Heavenly Father.
Born on December 4, 1937, in Marchand-Dessalines, Artibonite, Haiti, Mathilde was the beloved daughter of her parents. A woman of unwavering dedication, she worked tirelessly to care for her family. In 1988, she immigrated to the United States, driven by a dream of providing a better future for her loved ones. Mathilde labored faithfully in various roles, ensuring support for her family back home.
In 2006, her joy was complete when she was reunited with her children, who had also immigrated to the U.S. Mathilde was a steadfast pillar of faith and service, exemplifying devotion in all aspects of her life. She faithfully attended Jesus-Christ Baptist Church in Roselle, New Jersey, before moving to Philadelphia, where she worshipped at L’Église Baptiste de Jésus-Christ de Philadelphia for the final five years of her life.
Mathilde’s life was defined by her profound faith, selfless love, and deep commitment to her family. She was a nurturing mother, a doting grandmother, an irreplaceable sister, and a devoted aunt. Her gentle spirit, peaceful nature, and compassionate heart left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Above all, her relationship with God through Jesus Christ was her foundation, and she shared her unwavering faith with those around her.
Mathilde was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her son Guy Robert Zamor, her brothers Beauvoir Saget, Chovèque Saget, Roland Saget, and Richard Saget, her sisters Cléante Saget and Umène Saget Pierre, and her nephews and nieces Phito Saget, Villaire Pierre, and Louisette Pierre.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Maudeline Zamor; her cherished grandchildren, Jeff, Sherley, Georgy, Marro, Faeddryne, Ernst, Brunel, and Elijah; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Sean-Daniel, Soleil-Renée, Seline-Grace, Nella, and Anaëlle. Pastor Joseph R. Saget, Pastor Jeannot Saget, Roger Saget, and Mrs. Anide Pierre (née Anide Saget), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever honor her memory.
Mathilde Datilus will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a beacon of love, and a source of strength and grace for her family and all who were blessed to know her.
