Olna Cajuste, née Joseph was born on June 21, 1965, in Dorbeil, Lartibonite, Haiti to Mardochee and Marie Joseph. Olna was the oldest of seven siblings whom she helped care for until she migrated to the United States in 1984.
In 1987, Olna graduated from Elizabeth High School. She continued her studies and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. While in school she met Julsson Cajuste, and they married in 1992. Through their union, they had three children Julna, Lawrence and Terrence. Olna was also a mother figure in the life of her niece Martine. Olna stood on structure and principal, while also showing her warm and loving side. She had a strong belief in God and was a prayer warrior. Her ministry was in music, she loved working with children and enjoyed volunteering to serve her church community. Her favorite hobbies included: singing, exercise and watching Lifetime movies. Although she did not have a green thumb, that didn’t deter her from enjoying gardening.
With her faith Olna displayed immense resilience to the very end of her illness. Olna peacefully passed on August 31st, 2022, after battling lung cancer for six years. She is predeceased by her brother Opheny. She leaves behind a loving husband and four amazing kids. She is also survived by both of her parents, her siblings, many nieces and nephews and young granddaughter. Olna was a loving person, and she will be truly missed.
