Orel Ceradieu Paul

Orel Ceradieu Paul was born on March 6, 1948 in Desdunes, Haiti to the late Adieula Mytil and Ceradieu Paul. He was raised a devout Christian and grew up to become a pre-school teacher at Salem School of Desdunes and a farmer. Eventually, he met his loving wife in church and began to build a life together. Life in Haiti wasn’t easy. Orel envisioned a life of promise for his family. It was in September 1980 that he decided to risk his life and embark on a journey by sea to America in search of a much better life for himself and his family. Upon entering the US, he was embraced by his uncle Joseph Etienne who helped him get acclimated in this new country.  He later moved into his own apartment and worked extremely hard to provide for his family in Haiti. In September 1990, Orel reunited with his wife and his children here in America.
 

Orel was a humble, caring, and selfless man, who shied away from the spotlight; but his heart and hands touched many lives. Orel opened his doors to so many and was generous with his love. Orel lived his life using three key principles: his commitment and love for Christ, his devotion and love for his family, and his incessant drive to create economic stability for his family. Call-in sick was never a phrase in Orel’s vocabulary. He worked tirelessly throughout his life. Regardless of the weather conditions, Orel would be at work. Orel retired from Cambridge Industry in Newark, New Jersey approximately four years ago.

Despite his many positive attributes, Orel was widely known by many for his soothing and melodious voice. His voice was without any doubt a gift from God. He began his singing ministry at Bethany Baptist Church in Desdunes, where he was an integral member of the church choir. When he arrived in America, he continued to pursue his passion for singing at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Orel was a devoted member of the church choir and Le Groupe d’Homme. Orel retired from singing in August 2014, as his medical condition caused his vision to deteriorate.

Orel went on to be with the Lord on January 5, 2018. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne Paul; his children, Robinson Paul, Macles Paul, Wisly Paul, Onide Paul, Stanley Paul, and Alin Paul; his siblings, Paul Emile Paul, Dorsant Paul, Mitton Paul, Jocelyn Paul, Anne Paul; his uncles and aunt, Joseph Etienne, Agledor Paul, Etrenne Mytil; his grandchildren, Marvin Paul, Bryan Paul, Imani Paul, Malachi Paul, Ishmael Paul, Christina Francois, Najee McAlister, Jalissa Sterling, Payden Noel, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
