Paulette Gabriel

We are here to celebrate the life of Paulette Gabriel deceased on November 8th, 2024. after battling a long-life illness.
Paulette was born in L’artibonite, Haiti on September 22, 1961. Her mother's named was Zilia Jean and her father's named was Maxide Gabriel. she had three brothers, four sisters. Paulette has two children, Stephan Julian and Jenny Dorval. She has five grandchildren, Jeremiah Guillaume, Stella Julian, Steffi Julian and Abella Philibert. In Haiti, Paulette worked as a merchant. she used travel to different islands to buy merchandise where she would come back home and sell them. Her education background didn’t go past elementary, but she never let that stop her from getting what she wanted. she was resilient.

Paulette raised her children to believe in two important things in life. One was to put God first and foremost; the second thing was education. She believed that having the right education could open many close doors. When she was younger, she would complain about how much she wanted to go to school but her parents couldn’t afford it. Therefore, she made sure she gave her kids the best education possible with the little she had.  She was respectful and polite. Growing up I never saw her argued with anyone. She loved everyone and was loved by everyone. Her family meant the world to her. She was a giver; she shared everything she had. She was kind, she was though. She believed in discipline, and loving everyone the same.

She was the most beautiful woman in my eyes. As a little girl I loved to watch her get up in the morning, she would do her makeup put on her best outfit just to sit on her patio. She always believed in looking her best self and presentable at all times.

She was the strongest woman I know. Her strength was beyond this world. For 15 years she fought a sickness. I have seen her go in and out of hospitals, I’ve seen her intubated, bedridden, broken, still she bounced back. Through it all she never lost her smile. Through it all was she was always there to prayed for her kids, to prayed for her family even when she needed prayers herself. In her heart she had a candlelight shining for each of her children. She wanted to see how our lives would turn out. I’m so glad she got to see us becoming adults, most importantly I’m happy she got to know her grandchildren, her new generation.

Mama, I refused to believe that it is your time to go, I believe you find another way to stay closer to us. I thank you for all you did for our family. I could write a book about you if I had the chance. Mama, I want you to know this not goodbye. I can’t wait until the day I get to see you again. I love you so much you are my hero, you are my guiding light.
