Dear Family and Friends,
Today, we gather to honor and remember Sancionne Prud’homme Joseph, a woman whose warmth, love, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
Born on August 31, 1931, in Capotille, a communal section of Ouanaminthe, Haiti, Sancionne was the daughter of Arrelie Joseph (deceased) and Occe-Wakine Prud’homme (deceased). She was the eldest of four siblings: Doirelus Charles (deceased), Carmen Prud’homme Joseph (deceased), Suzanne Alcius (deceased), and Dieudonne Charles.
Sancionne was a woman of resilience and strength, always extending love and generosity to those around her. A devoted entrepreneur, she found joy and purpose in sewing, a craft she perfected with passion. Beyond her talents, she was a God-fearing woman, her life a testament to faith, devotion, and grace.
Fate led her to Joseph Ifreis Joseph in childhood, and though life separated them, love brought them back together. In 1957, their reunion marked the beginning of a lifelong journey, and on May 20, 1959, they were married. Their union blessed them with seven children: Jaquelin Joseph, Ifreis Joel Joseph (deceased), Marie Nadeige Apollon, Myriam Bien-Aime, Johnny Joseph, Ernst Joseph, and Ronald Joseph.
Despite battling various health conditions, Sancionne was a three-time stroke survivor, demonstrating incredible perseverance. On the morning of February 9, 2025, she was called home to be with the Lord.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory forever: her children, Jaquelin Joseph, Ifreis Joel Joseph (deceased) and his wife Aviole Atis-Joseph, Marie Nadeige Apollon and her husband Pierre Apollon, Myriam Bien-Aime and her husband Wilner Bien-Aime, Johnny Joseph, Ernst Joseph and his wife Islande Joseph, and Ronald Joseph and his wife Missela Joseph (deceased). She also leaves her adopted daughter Viergina Latry and her husband.
Her cherished grandchildren include Peterson Apollon, Nagela Apollon, Jethro Joseph, Joshua Joseph, Luther Joseph, Samantha Joseph, Romario Joseph, Roberto Joseph, Jessica Joseph, Jeremiah Joseph (deceased), Samiria Bien-Aime, George Joseph, Jennifer Joseph, David Bien-Aime, Jacquyanah Vincent, Daniel Bien-Aime, Faith Joseph, Grace Joseph, Nichelle Joseph, Nehemie Latry, and Clarson Chery.
She is also survived by nephews and nieces Luc Joseph, Jocelyn Joseph-Henry, Jocelyn Day, and Guerdy Balaston; cousins Edule Leneus and family, Jacqueline Antoine and family, Dianna Joseph and family, Wiltes Joseph and family, Louis Jacque Joseph and family, Mirland Joseph and family; and extended family, including Suzette Mondesir.
Her legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever.
