Tony Preval Obituary

Tony Preval was born on June 18th, 1959 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  He was the sixth out of the ten children of his parents Mr. Antoinier Preval and Mrs. Anne Carillia Preval (born Anne Carillia Jean). Tony Preval completed his high school education in Haiti.  He emigrated from Haiti to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York shortly after the death of his father.  While in New York he pursued an education with a focus on English at Medgar Evers College located in Brooklyn.Tony resided in the great borough of Brooklyn for several years before relocating to Asbury Park, New Jersey in order to be closer to his family.

In the early 2000’s, while residing in the town of Asbury Park, Tony met and married his wife Madeline.  Together, they had and raised their children, Jovard and Nadaley. Tony worked at a local school in Tinton Falls, New Jersey as a custodian before falling ill. Tony was a kind gentleman and a great friend to many. He often times extended himself and showed the love he had for his family members to his friends.  He was also loving father and devoted husband. He loved his wife and children immensely.  A jokester at heart, Tony always knew what to say to make you crack a smile, lighten the mood, or to elicit a laugh during hard times.

On Sunday, May 27th, Tony died peacefully in his sleep in the comforts of his home surrounded by his loving familyTony Preval is predeceased by his father, Antoinier Preval, his sisters, Micheline Gracia, Cluvia Preval, and Rodhe Preval.  He was also predeceased by his brother Wesner Preval.  Tony’s younger brother Jean Renee Preval  passed on May 31st in Haiti at the age of 57.

He is survived by his mother, Anne Carillia Preval, his wife, Madeline Preval, his son, Jovard Preval and daughter, Nadaley Preval, his brother, Jean Mary Preval, his sisters, Clunie Lacrete, Ruth Preval and MimeRode Milien. Tony is also survived by and will be remembered by countless loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be fondly remembered by the D’Haiti family, the Jean Family, the Provence Family, the Carenard Family, the Gracia Family, and the Noel Family who have all provided  consistent comfort and support since his passing.
