Verilia Mary Eugene

Verilia Mary Eugene, also known as Pewso to her family and friends in Dominica, was born on January 30, 1946, to Felicite` Birmingham and Floyd Ismael, both of Mahaut in the Commonwealth of Dominica.    She spent her childhood with her sister Annette and brother Angus.                 

Verilia married Lawrenson Eugene (deceased) and in 1979, they brought their children Phillip, Beverly and Pamela to East Orange.  Verilia added Tricia to her family several years later.   Verilia’s heart broke with the deaths of Pamela and Tricia.

Verilia spent her entire life caring for family, friends and church. She shared a light that came from her deep faith in God’s love for her. She was a member of the St. Jude Society, the Eucharistic Ministers, a trained bereavement counselor, a lector, a member of the Hope Team and a dedicated member of the Rosary Society.

Verilia is survived by her children Beverly and Phillip Eugene. She is predeceased by her brother Patrickson Gustav and survived by her sister Annette Ismael, her brother Angus Ismael, loving family members- nieces Jenny and Marval Gustav, Vincia Serrant, Vincian Lammar, Vivian Morales and nephews Richardson Gustav, Vincent Bictorine, Leroy Leslie and a host of friends she met throughout her lifetime who lovingly called her Auntie, Mom, Godmother and Grandma.
