Walter Zamor Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce that Walter Zamor passed away on December 30 2021 at Hackensack Hospital at the age of 37 from complications following a 1.5 year battle with Leukemia.

He is survived by his five children, Shaiane, Makayla, Tyrell, Grace and Deana Zamor, his wife Axlyne Sylvain, his mother Marie E. Jean, his siblings Karvin and Keshia Zamor, his niece Myah Zamor; his aunts and uncles particularly Marie Antoine, Rousell Antoine and Pierre Jean; his cousins particularly Stanley Antoine, Diderot & Sindy Jean and a multitude of friends that deeply cared for him. He is preceded in death by his father Alcius Zamor.

Walter was born on October 15 1984 in Elizabeth, NJ to parents Marie E. Jean and Alcius Zamor. His childhood was spent both in Elizabeth, NJ as well as Bas Peu de Chose, Haiti. He graduated from Irvington High School in 2004 and attended Union County College in 2013 for a degree in Business.

Walter was a generous, quiet and shy person in new environments with a great sense of humor, extremely goofy with his friends and those dear to his heart. He was a kind human, whose language was to be at the service of others. He was one who you could always count on and always put others needs ahead of his own. After his dad’s passing Walter stepped up and became a protector and father figure to his younger siblings. Being a protector is an attitude Walter embraced, kept and extended to anyone around him, he looked out for everyone. He has dedicated, devoted his time the last 13 years to ensure the well-being of his children. Even in his sickness, their needs came first, his children were his pride and joy. Walter always found the time to be a dad, a son, a husband, a brother, a nephew, an uncle, a friend, a shoulder for one to lean on, an ear to listen.

Walter was always optimistic and always with a smile on his face regardless of the situation. He was a giver, a “Viveur” and made an impact on anyone that he came around. He made everyone feel important and valued. Everyone knew Walter! He was a gentle giant always with a smile! Anyone that truly knew him, knew he had such a big heart. He’d give you anything even if it wasn’t his to give. He could make you laugh even when you were mad at him.

He loved fiercely and deeply, he gave his life to Jesus and we take comfort in knowing that Walter is now at peace surrounded by light and embraced by God. We loved you then, we love you now and we will love you forever.

Because of Walter’s generous personality, in lieu of flowers, Walter would prefer a donation to be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation to advance Leukemia Cancer Research or to St Jude Hospital to help them in their fight against childhood cancer!
