Washington Suarez, a lifelong entrepreneur & resident of Livingston, NJ, passed away in the presence of family on April 17th, 2024, at the age of 70.

                He is survived by his wife, Jeannette Del Carmen; his children, David Suarez, Miguel Suarez, & Celia Suarez; & his grandchildren, Josue Carias-Suarez & Matias Ramiro Carias-Suarez.       

Born on May 13th, 1953, in Montevideo, Uruguay, to the parentage of the late Telmo Suarez & Celia Gonzalez.  Washington’s studies were sidelined as a child as he was compelled to give up school & help support his family.  This upbringing instilled in him a relentless work ethic & unwavering determination that few could rival.  He defied a myriad of obstacles to build his businesses; City Line Auto Repair & Washington Auto Parts, both independently owned & continuing to thrive today.

Washington met his beloved wife, Jeannette Del Carmen.  They welcomed their first-born son, David, on October 8th, 1984, their youngest son, Miguel, on December 21st, 1986, & their one & only daughter, Celia, on March 28th, 1988.  His family was his driving force & his anchor throughout his life & he conveyed his compassion for them through his ambition & resolve.

As a father, he cherished family adventures. From international trips to South America, to beloved getaways to Lake George, he ensured his children experienced the world and created lasting memories.  He prioritized quality time, taking them on thrilling rides at Busch Gardens and magical days at Disney World.  Washington was determined to provide the childhood he never experienced & gifted his children a world of wonder.

Despite the obstacles he faced, Washington built a remarkable legacy. He was not handed success; he fought for it every step of the way.  Through sheer grit and a natural aptitude for mechanics, Washington transformed City Line Auto Repair from a neophyte operation into a cornerstone of the community, known for both its sublime service and excellent deals.  His reputation for excellence grew, and he later parlayed his expertise into establishing Washington Auto Parts, solidifying his presence in the local automotive industry.

While he was known to most as a bit of a curmudgeon, Washington treated everyone equally. He valued honor and integrity, and while he never backed down from a disagreement, given enough time, his sincerity and compassion emanated, ultimately mending strained relationships.  Although he was slow to walk back a faux pas, Washington revealed his true character when given the opportunity.  He was a man who wanted to help others, but he would always fight for his beliefs no matter what others might think of him.

Washington's absence leaves a void not just in his family but also in the hearts of countless individuals he touched.  He mentored mechanics & eager businessman, fueled vendors who took a chance on him, supported extended family asking nothing in return, & helped neighbors & strangers alike simply because he felt everyone deserved a chance.  Together, they all mourn the loss of a great man, because he never shied away from taking a chance on someone.  He always gave & he always paid his debts, a testament to his character.  The strength, both physically & mentally, that he held was palpable.  It was there with him as he continued to stand right until his last day, as if to say not yet.  Not yet.

The outpouring of love and support his family has received since his passing is a powerful reminder of the positive impact Washington had on countless lives.  Though he may have had a rough exterior, Washington's true character was defined by his nobility, his unwavering support for those around him, and his commitment to lifting others up.  Washington’s contributions to the communities he was part of highlight his legacy.  The deeds & achievements he accomplished bring focus to a brilliant life that will live on through his friends & family.

Le sobreviven su esposa, Jeannette Del Carmen; sus hijos, David Suarez, Miguel Suarez y Celia Suarez; y sus nietos, Josué Carias-Suarez y Matías Carias-Suarez.

Nacido el 13 de Mayo de 1953 en Montevideo, Uruguay, hijo de los fallecidos Telmo Suárez y Celia González. Los estudios de Washington se vieron truncados de niño, ya que se vio obligado a dejar la escuela para ayudar a mantener a su familia. Esta crianza le inculcó una ética de trabajo incansable y una determinación inquebrantable que pocos podían igualar. Desafió una miríada de obstáculos para construir sus negocios: City Line Auto Repair y Washington Auto Parts, ambos de propiedad independiente y que siguen prosperando en la actualidad.

Washington conoció a su amada esposa, Jeannette Del Carmen. Le dieron la bienvenida a su primogénito, David, el 8 de Octubre de 1984, a su hijo menor, Miguel, el 21 de Diciembre de 1986, y a su única hija, Celia, el 28 de Marzo de 1988. Su familia fue su motor y su ancla a lo largo de su vida, y transmitió su compasión por ellos a través de su ambición y resolución.

Como padre, apreciaba las aventuras familiares. Desde viajes internacionales a Sudamérica hasta escapadas queridas al Lago George, se aseguró de que sus hijos experimentaran el mundo y crearan recuerdos duraderos. Priorizó el tiempo de calidad, llevándolos a emocionantes paseos en Busch Gardens y días mágicos en Disney World. Washington estaba decidido a proporcionarles la infancia que él nunca tuvo y les regaló a sus hijos un mundo de maravillas.

A pesar de los obstáculos que enfrentó, Washington construyó un legado notable. El éxito no le fue entregado; luchó por él en cada paso del camino. A través del puro coraje y una aptitud natural para la mecánica, Washington transformó City Line Auto Repair de una operación incipiente en un pilar de la comunidad, conocido por su excelente servicio y sus tratos excepcionales. Su reputación de excelencia creció, y más tarde aprovechó su experiencia para establecer Washington Auto Parts, solidificando su presencia en la industria automotriz local.

Si bien la mayoría lo conocía como un poco cascarrabias, Washington trataba a todos por igual. Valoraba el honor y la integridad, y aunque nunca se echaba atrás ante un desacuerdo, con el tiempo suficiente, su sinceridad y compasión emanaban, en última instancia, reparando las relaciones tensas. Aunque tardaba en retractarse de un paso en falso, Washington revelaba su verdadero carácter cuando se le presentaba la oportunidad. Era un hombre que quería ayudar a los demás, pero siempre lucharía por sus creencias sin importar lo que pensaran los demás.

La ausencia de Washington deja un vacío no solo en su familia sino también en los corazones de innumerables personas a las que tocó. Fue mentor de mecánicos y empresarios entusiastas, apoyó a vendedores que confiaron en él, ayudó a familiares sin pedir nada a cambio, y ayudó a vecinos y desconocidos por igual simplemente porque creía que todos merecían una oportunidad. Juntos, todos lloran la pérdida de un gran hombre, porque nunca dudó en darle una oportunidad a alguien. Siempre daba y siempre pagaba sus deudas, un testamento de su carácter. La fuerza, tanto física como mental, que poseía era palpable. Estuvo ahí con él hasta su último día, como si dijera "todavía no". Todavía no.

La efusión de amor y apoyo que ha recibido su familia desde su fallecimiento es un poderoso recordatorio del impacto positivo que Washington tuvo en innumerables vidas. Aunque pudo haber tenido un exterior rudo, el verdadero carácter de Washington se definió por su nobleza, su apoyo incondicional a quienes lo rodeaban y su compromiso de ayudar a los demás. Las contribuciones de Washington a las comunidades de las que formó parte resaltan su legado. Los hechos y logros que obtuvo dan enfoque a una vida brillante que perdurará a través de sus amigos y familiares.
