Yves Gaston (Roro) was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on October 8, 1953. He passed away on January 7, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospital East Islip, Long Island N.Y after a short period of time with an illness. His parents mother Phigenia Athis, and father Alfred Gaston.

Yves (Roro) grew up in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He graduated High School from Lycee Firmin. He went to a vocational school to learn a skill. “PRINTING.” He started he’s first job as a printer for the Haitian Government at the “Press National,” he loved it. He worked there until he left Haiti to come to America in 1980 where he lived for 44 years.

Yves (Roro) is abiding faith found expression in his profound devotion to French Speaking Church of Nassau (since 2004) enriched his spiritual journey. His love extended wholeheartedly to his close family, his many cousins, his friends, and the eternal connection he shared with God.

He leaves behind his wife Michaelle Gaston, his daughters: Kerlyne Beatrice Petit-Frere, and Abigail Gaston. His son Stanley Gaston. His grandchildren Julian, and Shane Gaston. His stepson Joel Lafortune.

His younger brothers: Daniel Gaston, and Moravia Gaston.

His younger sisters: Ketty S. Azor, Marie Helene Gaston, Marie Lyonne Gaston, and Marie Ymmacula Gaston Jean.

His brother-in-law: Corneille Azor, Alphone Jean. His mother-in-law Rose Mathieu, and his daughter-in-law Johane Gaston

His nieces and nephews: Daphney, Annette, Audra, and Daniel Gaston, Kerry, and Derrick Azor, Steven, Gaelle, Deborah, and Marckenley Jean, Kerniah, Josh, and Sherika Casseus, Kevin, Keyshawn, and Keleysha Petit-Frere.

His cousins: Lina, Carolle, Immacula, Alice, Fabienne, and Junior Athis.

Yves (Roro), your cherished soul, graced the world with his beauty, intellect, boundless love, and vibrant energy. Let us hold dear his exceptional embrace and the precious memories we shared, finding solace in each other’s embrace, and seeking your continued support along with the mercy of God. With deep gratitude, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the extant and loving community that has graced our lives during this incredibly difficult time.

Your unwavering assistance, comforting conversations, shared laughter, warm hugs, and prayers have not only fortified our family, but have also been a gentle balm for our wounded hearts. Through your compassionate presence and unwavering support, you have breathed life into Yves’s (Roro) legacy.
