Marie Anna Guillaume was born on August 22, 1929 in St. Marc, Haiti, to the late parentage of Sylveus Guillaume and Maxime Charles. Marie was one of six children, loving her family and cherishing the moments they shared. Marie would always state that sibling relationships can outlast marriage, survive the death of parents, it can resurface after quarrels, it can flourish in a thousand incarnations of closeness, loyalty and warmth. Marie siblings: Sylveste, Geroge, Villard, Edith, and Claire Jeanne, were all like branches of a tree, they grew in many directions but their roots remain as one. Marie had much support from her family, she attended Marc D’ Azua school in St. Marc as she would receive an education. She learned the fine arts of seamstress and become a renowned seamstress.
On October 20th, 1953, Marie would marry the love of her life Roger Joachim. The two love birds would bless the world with five children: Mireille, Mignone, Jocelyne, Keney, and Wilbert. Marie love for her kids was boundless. In 1995 Marie would embark on a journey that would reunite her with family as she left Haiti to settle in Brooklyn, NY. Marie never took life nor her family for granted, she would always say that you should never regret life, if its good, it’s wonderful, and if it’s bad then it’s an experience.
Sadly, on June 1st, 2017, Marie Anna Guillaume was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, family, and friends. Marie would want us to remember that Grief never ends, but it changes, it’s a passage, not a place to stay, grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith, but it’s the price we pay for loving those we care about with love
